new painting

haven't done one in a very long time. so bear with me please. this will be my experiment to see how out of practice i am. i'm determined to take it as far as i can in terms of finished-ness, since i have a tendency to quit too soon.

first i did a couple studies to warm up. this was my favorite.




close up. biggest challenge for me: maintaining the spontaneity and life of a sketch but working through it until it's finished. or at least better.




i felt compelled to draw underneath the painting for structural guidance. but already it's not nearly as magical as the first sketch. i've got a lot of work ahead of me. but i'm excited.

boo. i've been far far away in a land called procrastinatia. it's not fun there. and you never get anything done.

my mrs. and i had our first wedding anniversary a week ago. and she had her birthday recently too. so i made her this card.

don't you hate it when it rains in LA? i do. just when you start to enjoy a few sunny days, that little rain cloud comes back. boo.

my shirt on letterman

hey everybody. so i made a t-shirt for butch, drummer extraordinaire. he's great. the shirt has a caricature of him and he wore it on letterman last night while he played for lucinda williams. here's the video. thanks, butch!
